Nottingham Forest want to complete £13m deal for 'quality' defender today - journalist

Nottingham Forest are ramping up their efforts to sign new players and want to get one deal completed today.

The Reds have so far signed four players during the summer transfer window.

Marko Stamenic was the first to sign but he immediately joined Olympiacos on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.

Next through the door was Eric da Silva Moreira and he was praised by Paul Taylor for his performance in the pre-season game against Chesterfield on Saturday.

Elliot Anderson then checked in from Newcastle for a fee believed to be around £15 million and he also featured at the weekend.

Next in was giant goalkeeper Carlos Miguel and Nuno Espirito Santo will hope for the squad to be completed as quickly as possible.

Nottingham Forest hope to complete signing today

Things look to be heating up at the City Ground and now a journalist has claimed that one deal could be wrapped up today.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Forest are hoping to close a deal to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic today.

He claims that a deal is extremely close with Forest looking to sign a defender previously linked with Tottenham and Newcastle.

Di Marzio believes that the player is close to signing for Forest in a deal worth around £13 million plus a series of add-ons.

The Reds are in the market for another defender after they sold Moussa Niakhate to Lyon for a fee in the region of £27 million.

Milenkovic has spent seven years at Fiorentina, helping the club to back-to-back UEFA Conference League finals.

Earlier in his career, he was compared to Nemanja Vidic with Milenkovic stepping into the Serbia legend’s boots in recent years on the international stage.

Forest have done brilliantly to land talented defender

A profile piece from 90Min back in 2021 called the defender ‘quality’ and Forest do look to be getting good value for money here.

Milenkovic has been chased by a number of Premier League clubs but it’s Forest who look set to win the race.

The beauty of this deal is that Forest haven’t messed around and it looks as though it’s going to be completed quickly.

These links first came to light at the weekend and perhaps Milenkovic will be able to join his teammates in Spain this week.

Milenkovic has been integral at Fiorentina, making 264 appearances for the club, whilst he’s also played 57 times for his country.

Watch this space, but Forest might be about to hit the jackpot with Milenkovic.
