Denny Hamlin has some advice for Kyle Busch who has yet to win a NASCAR Cup Series race this year. On the Actions Detrimental podcast, the three-time Daytona 500 winner revealed what Busch needs to do to have success in the final races of the regular season.

“The only way to approach it is to be a professional and you show up and do your job to the best of your ability,” Hamlin said. “Control what you can control. That’s my advice if anyone ever wanted to hear it is that you do the best that you possibly can, and you let the chips fall where they may. If you don’t have the fastest car, you try to drive that car to a couple spots better or just put yourself in position to where, you know what, if this turns into a fuel-mileage race, let’s make a call that we could win this thing on fuel mileage.”

Sunday was a frustrating day for Busch as he crased at the Pocono Series Cup race to earn his fifth DNF in the last seven outuings. After the race, Busch did not vent his fustration of behing hit by Corey LaJoie.

“Nah, I just want to thank all of our partners and everybody that’s been behind our program at RCR, ECR Engines, obviously Zone nicotine pouches and Cheddar’s, Lucas Oil, everybody for their support and continuing to back us and be behind us, and of course the fans and Rowdy Nation as well, too,” Kyle Busch said.

When it comes down to it, Busch will need to win one of the next five races to clinch a spot in the playoffs. But on the Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin said Busch’s chances of winning a race right now are not very strong.

“What have you seen that makes you think he’s gonna win a race?” Hamlin said. “Can he win a race? Yes, absolutely. But not like legitimately. He’s not gonna win one legitimately and that’s just a fact and I apologize to the Kyle Busch fans listening, but we have to be honest with ourselves. I’m not putting this on Kyle, trust me I’ve been teammates with him, the guy is elite. He’s great. But you gotta show that you can at least consistently run in the top-five to even have a chance to win, and we haven’t seen that lately.”
