Prince George is William's lookalike in bittersweet rare photo of the father-son duo

Prince George was left devastated by the result of the Euro 2024 final yesterday, but in the emotional scenes he was William’s mini-me, even doing the same mannerisms as his father.

The young royal couldn’t hide his feelings as he reacted to every kick with his dad by his side over the weekend. Prince William and his son flew over to Berlin to watch the tense soccer match, hoping England would win, but they sadly failed. Prince George has been an avid fan for some time, with his father taking him to see his soccer games since October 2019. The duo also enjoyed a match days after Christmas last year when they watched Aston Villa.

The little Prince was seen whispering into his father’s ear at different points of the match, and clasped his hands on his face when England failed to score.

Not only did the pair react the same with similar mannerisms, but they matched sporting ties, a navy tie with a red and white striped pattern.

William donned a black suit, while Prince wore a navy outfit with gold buttons.

William, the heir to the British throne, offered his condolences to the sports team after their loss.

He posted on X (Twitter): “This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards @England. W”.

George’s grandfather, King Charles, did the same and told the soccer team to ‘hold your heads high’.

Despite enjoying the soccer with his son, there is something that plays on Prince William’s mind when it comes to George and his future.

William would have ‘sought permission’ travel with George

Within the royal family, there is a strict travel rule which has been in place for decades, and it forbids heirs to the throne traveling together – unless they receive specific permission from the monarch.

This is to avoid tragedy, say an accident or crash were to happen and the heirs passing away.

It doesn’t mean it has never happened, with William asking permission from the late Queen Elizabeth II in previous years when he took a family trip with Kate Middleton and their children, George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.

As George and William traveled to Berlin for the match, they would have gone together, prompting Wills having to speak to his dear old dad to seek permission.

It’s not the only strict rule from The Firm, with empty seats at royal weddings and strange reasons why Kate Middleton refused to sign an autograph from a fan.
