Russian troops have reportedly been seen regrouping at the Kharkiv sector of the frontlines, while Ukraine's troops fighting the Russian siege of Donetsk are worried about losing ground.

Knewz.com has learned that Russian soldiers are gearing up for an assault on the city of Vovchansk in Kharkiv.

Russia has already moved troops from the 155th Separate Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet and the 18th Motorized Rifle Division of the 11th Army Corps to the village of Hlyboke.

The Operational Tactical Group of Kharkiv reported on Telegram that Russian troops from the assault groups of 138 separate motorized infantry brigade of the 6th Army and the 153rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 47th Motorized Rifle Division are being trained ahead of the Vovchansk assault.

The report further mentioned that a "total of 13 combat clashes took place" between the occupying Ukrainian forces and the advancing Russian troops in the region on July 14.

The Operational Tactical Group of Kharkiv wrote that the conflict in Vovchansk claimed significant losses on the Russian side, including military equipment.

"The loss of the enemy... amounted to 120 people. Loss of enemy weapons and military equipment – 77 units," the report read.

However, the spokesperson of Ukraine’s Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group, Colonel Vitaly Sarantsev, said in a statement on Ukrainian national television that the Russian forces are continuing to advance in Kharkiv despite heavy losses, and described the situation as "difficult."

"The situation is quite difficult at the moment, the Russian occupiers [have not stopped] trying to dislodge our defenders from their positions, they are regrouping," Sarantsev said in his statement.

"In the area of Morokhovets and Krasne settlements, in order to continue the assault, the enemy is moving personnel to the Hlyboke settlement area," he added.

On the other hand, Ukraine's forces are struggling to hold their ground against the Russian offensive in the besieged Chasiv Yar region in Donetsk.

Ukrainian troops fighting in Chasiv Yar have stated that they are "doomed" if Russian forces manage to get behind them and cut off their supply lines. It has been reported that Russia has been pushing towards Highway T0504, a key supply route for Ukrainian troops in the entire region.

Furthermore, capturing the highway would make it easier for Vladimir Putin's forces to advance on both the east and the west.

"It would be critical if the main road for resources, ammunition, and everything is captured, or if the Russians approach closer to it," an artillery unit sergeant was quoted as saying.

An infantry company commander weighed in on the matter, saying, "It is a very serious threat, because after two years of war, the enemy has the ability and determination to break through the front line and not in one or two places, but in several (places) to threaten logistics."

"Any blocked logistical route affects the situation at the front, because all roads are important and perform strategic tasks, and various logistical tasks are assigned to them," the commander added in a statement to Kyiv Independent.

Ukraine's forces have been fighting a tough war in Chasiv Yar for months now, with a report from March 2024 quoting soldiers stationed there as saying that they were experiencing "a large Russian push over the last three weeks and are facing constant attacks as Moscow troops send in wave after wave of infantry and target them with a variety of artillery and drones."

The commander of the tank regiment operating in the Bakhmut region said that the Ukrainian forces are trying their best to hold their own against the renewed and concentrated Russian campaign in the Chasiv Yar region, but the "density of fire is higher."

"The renewed assault by Russia, involving newly deployed artillery and troops, has forced multiple fronts in Ukraine into submission, as battered Ukrainian armed forces are left with no choice but to withdraw amidst dire shortages of ammunition and reservists," Knewz.com reported at the time.
