New chip flavor is designed to taste just like staple summer cookout meal

If you aren’t lucky enough to attend a crab boil this summer, CaliBagels has got you covered with their new chips in Old Bay flavor.

Each year, summer sparks countless sun-centric activities for us to enjoy, whether that be planting an array of flowers with your phone’s help or swimming in the pool. Of course, a major part of summer activities is the food, and while some would suggest the grilling should be left to the men, cookouts, BBQs, and even crab boils are for everyone.

July has been a busy month for food arrivals so far following the earlier release of Burger King’s new spicy range of meals. But it seems July still has some tricks up her sleeve.

Keeping with the fiery theme, CaliBagels has delighted fans with a new chip in the flavor of Old Bay seasoning. Despite initially being created in Baltimore, Maryland, Old Bay seasoning is used across the US from New England to the Southern States.

In a press release on Monday, San Diego’s CaliBagels unveiled their new snack that combines Old Bay seasoning with their iconic chip.

“Offering consumers our unique bagel chip seasoned with OLD BAY made perfect sense,” said Phil Gorman, CaliBagels Founder. “Bringing the fanaticism around the iconic seafood seasoning brand to snackers around the country is incredibly exciting for our team.”

Born and bred in Baltimore, Phil was inspired by the flavors of his childhood in a “lightbulb moment” that sparked his brand’s new chip flavor.

Old Bay seasoning is usually used to season crab and shrimp before they are added into enormous pots of water, potatoes, citrus, spices, corn, and many other goodies. Seafood boils are popular across the globe but are of particular notoriety in areas like the Carolinas and New England.

Though most seasonings are predominantly made from one component, Old Bay combines the complex flavors of 18 including celery, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic, and cloves.

Outside of seafood, Old Bay fans often sprinkle their favorite seasoning onto popcorn, chips, fries, salads, and various meat products.
