One woman was reduced to tears after her mother secretly put down their dog because of what many social media users are deeming as an “evil” reason.
Taking care of a dog is not an easy job, which is precisely why not everyone should get one in the first place. Even once you’ve agreed to the initial commitment, you are forced to contend with troublesome years, extortionate vet bills, and your shoes being chewed on. Still, getting rid of a dog is a complicated and often controversial move.
She put down the dog over his anxiety
At the end of June, Sasha (@sasharogue) took to TikTok with a heartbreaking story about her dog. Following the initial video, Sasha uploaded another that delved into the subject in saddening detail.
“That’s literally evil, why would she do that?” Sasha questioned, tears streaming down her red cheeks. “Like I told her I could have found her home for him. Like, that’s crazy.”
While most social media users understood that Sasha was upset over her dog being put down, others required more information.
In part two, Sasha explained that she didn’t want to leave it hours or days before addressing questions. She felt this would be harder, so wanted to get it out of the way.
Her dog Reggie had “really bad” anxiety that would often result in him pooping on the floor. He also refused to be away from Sasha’s mother, making it difficult to get anything done.
Her mother, who battles with Bipolar disorder, was asked to look after Reggie for 9 months until Sasha could move him in with her.
Unable to deal with the dog that was “attached to her hip”, Sasha’s mom decided to have him put down, which her daughter said was a throwback to her childhood when pets would be gone when she got home from school.
A look at Sasha’s social media suggests that she has gone “no-contact” with her mother, which she earlier said she has been forced to do more than once.
‘I would NEVER talk to her again’
As you might expect, most TikTok users were firmly on Sasha’s side, considering the fact that dogs are constantly proving why they’re man’s best friend. Others went as far as to say that the vet should be sacked.
“So SHE failed to train him, causing him to develop this separation anxiety and then she punished him for HER mistakes. I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mom is a horrible woman and you can show her this,” one person ranted.
“I had no idea you could put a dog down just because. Where do they do that!?” someone else questioned.
Another wrote: “That’s actually so wild. I’d never talk to my mom. Like no exaggeration. I’d be done with her.”
