The drone strike on Monday, July 15, targeted a Russian military site in the Cape Fiolent region where an S-400/S-300 anti-aircraft system from the 12th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment was stationed.

The Telegram Channel Crimean Wind reported the attack and wrote that local reports suggested a nearby radar station was destroyed.

"According to our subscribers, there were a total of 8 explosions and stories about knocking down all Ukrainian drones... Presumably, one of the radar stations was damaged, there was also an explosion at the S-400 position," the report mentioned.

The Russian military site was located in close proximity to the summer cottage cooperatives in the region and as a result, falling debris from the drones fell on nearby civilian buildings, according to the report from Crimean Wind.

The S-400 air defense missile system is capable of protecting against a wide range of targets, including electronic warfare aircraft, strategic bombers, and tactical short- and medium-range ballistic missiles, among other airborne threats.

The air defense system features a 91N6E radar that can track targets up to 621 miles away, and the missile system can effectively strike targets within a range of up to 249 miles.

Per reports, the Russia-appointed Governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, claimed that one of the drones targeting the military site was shot down and that debris from the drone fell on one of the private residences in the Cape Fiolent area.

The overnight drone strike also triggered a "ballistic threat" announcement in Sevastopol, it was reported.

However, the reports have not clarified whether the drone strike was the handiwork of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that a Russian military storage facility in the Cape Fiolent region was targeted on July 1, making the recent drone strike the second attack on the area this month.

The storage facility was said to house either ammunition or Shahed-type attack drones used by Russia in the Ukraine war.

On the other hand, the military intelligence of the defending nation claimed responsibility for carrying out attacks on Russian communication and surveillance complexes on the frontlines using First Person View (FPV) drones.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine wrote on Telegram that the attacks – which coincided with the overnight drone strike on Cape Fiolent – were carried out by FPV drones from the "Firebird" special unit.

"Operators of FPV drones of the special unit of GUR MO of Ukraine 'Firebird' continue to methodically destroy enemy targets at the front — successfully affected communication and surveillance complexes, as well as the base of Russian invaders," the report read.

The report was accompanied by footage of the attack, showing drones striking several communication towers. Ukrainian military intelligence added in the report that "The hunt" against Russian facilities "continues."

Earlier in July, the Main Directorate of Intelligence shared footage showing drones from the Directorate's "Ghost" unit destroying Russian communication and surveillance equipment, a fuel tank, and several light vehicles during a "night hunt."

"At one of the front lines 'ghosts' burned two bases of the Russian occupiers, destroyed the hostile equipment for communication and surveillance, located on the roof of the building, as well as ― fuel refueler and several units of light automotive invaders," the caption of the footage read.
