Chelsea confirm squad number changes for 2024/25

By Tom Gott

Chelsea have confirmed a handful of changes to their squad numbers as they prepare to embark on their 2024/25 pre-season tour.

The Blues released their divisive new home kit on Monday, with many fans quick to label the shirt as one of the worst in recent memory.

The housekeeping continues as Chelsea have now updated their shirt numbers for the coming campaign following the arrival of five new faces in Enzo Maresca's squad.

Tosin Adarabioyo takes the 4 shirt which has not been worn since Benoti Badiashile in 2022/23, while fellow new arrival Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall keeps the number 22 he favoured during his time with Leicester City. Hakim Ziyech was the last player to wear that shirt for Chelsea.

Omari Kellyman has been handed 37, Marc Guiu takes 38 and Renato Veiga rounds off the new faces by taking the number 40 shirt.

One of the biggest changes is the switch for Levi Colwill. The young centre-back wore 26 last season but has now moved to claim the 6 shirt that was left behind by Thiago Silva.

Wesley Fofana has also moved up from 33 to 29.

Chelsea's current list of shirt numbers are not finalised and remain subject to change, not least because the transfer window remains open.

Maresca will get his Chelsea career underway later this month as the Blues head to the United States for their pre-season tour.

They face Wrexham on July 25, before meetings with Celtic, Club America, Manchester City and Real Madrid. Chelsea will then round out their preparations for the coming season back at Stamford Bridge against Inter on August 11.
