Injured Pedri: 'You rethink a lot of things'

Spain midfielder Pedri has talked about his latest injury setback which is making him miss Sunday's Euro 2024 final against England.

Pedri, 21, suffered a left knee strain early in the quarter-final match against hosts Germany after a heavy challenge from Toni Kroos.

The Barcelona player had earlier in the season also been sidelined several times with injuries, missing matches for club and country.

“The first few days are always the worst. When you can barely walk, you’re in a lot of pain. You rethink a lot of things, why it always happens to you, what you can do better,” he said in a video released by the Spanish FA.

"You always try to look at the positives, it will help you try to improve and overcome the little obstacles that are in your path, it will make you stronger.

“I was coming off a difficult season, I had a lot of injuries, I haven’t had the continuity that I would like, that’s what a footballer likes the most, to have that continuity."

Pedri has decided to stay with the Spanish squad and hopes that they can deliver the title, for him as well.

"We are a family here and that has brought us to the final. And we deserve to win this final because we are a family," he said.

"I am sure they will give their all and make me a European champion."
