Donald Trump feared shot in ear in apparent gun attack at campaign rally

Donald Trump is feared to have been shot after he was seen bloodied after an apparent gun attack at a campaign rally.

A barrage of what sounded like bangs or gunshots rang out at his event in Pennsylvania on Saturday (13.07.24) – with the former president, 78, seen being rushed off-stage by security staff.

Trump appeared to fall to the ground as he was giving a speech and as a series of what sounded like shots from either behind him or into the crowd at his back from another angle rang out, amid piercing screams from his supporters.

He was seen ducking down and on the floor as armed security agents jumped to shield him.

But he then rose to his feet and put his fist in the air, while appearing to clutch a red MAGA hat.

He was then escorted off stage and into a vehicle, and then driven away from the scene.

Video show blood pouring from around his ear as he was taken away.

The US Secret Service has said Trump is “safe” and that it put protective measures around the ex-president.

It also said that an investigation had been launched.

No further details were given on Trump’s condition.

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said on X: “This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available.”

Republican senator for Ohio, J.D. Vance, said in a post on the same platform: “Everyone join me in praying for our President Trump and everyone at that rally. I hope everyone is ok.”

President Joe Biden, 81, is said by the White House to have had an “initial briefing” on the apparent assassination attempt.

This is a developing story.
