What Are the People’s Choice Country Awards?

The People’s Choice Country Awards first launched in 2023 as a country-specific extension of the long-running People’s Choice Awards. The inaugural event was hosted by Little Big Town. Similar to its parent awards show, the PCCAs are decided on by the fans through online voting.

Last year, Morgan Wallen lead the way in nominations with 11 and took home the most prestigious award of the night, The People’s Artist of 2023. Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson were also big winners and Wynonna Judd was given the first-ever Country Champion Award.

The highlight of the night however, was Toby Keith‘s performance of “Don’t Let the Old Man In.” The moment ended up being his final television performance before he died on Feb. 5, 2024.
