'I prefer': Nani says Man City have a player he likes even more than Phil Foden

Phil Foden has cemented himself as one of Manchester City’s star players.

In his previous season with the Blues, the 24-year-old found the back of the net 27 times and delivered 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

Having played a key role in seeing Pep Guardiola’s side win their sixth Premier League trophy in seven years, Foden was named the Player of the Season as a result of his performances.

Now though, one former Manchester United player has claimed that City have someone in their squad he thinks is better than Foden.

Nani picks Bernardo Silva over Phil Foden

In a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Nani was asked to build a combined Portugal and England XI by having to decide between two players from each nation based on who he prefers.

When asked to pick between Foden and his City teammate, Bernardo Silva, Nani had this to say in response.

He said: “Bernardo Silva. I like Foden, but I prefer Bernardo.”

Foden and Bernardo are two of City’s star players

While Foden undoubtedly had a sensational season, Silva once again showed how important he is for the Blues.

In 49 appearances across all competitions, the Portuguese international found the back of the net 11 times and delivered 10 assists.

Regarding how important he is for the team, Guardiola said after the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea that he feels so much more comfortable when Silva is on the pitch due to his intelligence in being able to keep the ball.

Given the Portuguese connection, it may not surprise some that Nani picked Silva over Foden, although all City fans will be well aware of how important the duo are for their side.

Moving forward, if the pair go on to play prominent roles in the team next season, we feel they will once again give City a strong chance of winning even more silverware.
