Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson, 24, has been killed in a car crash.
He was selected by the Viking's in this year's NFL draft and was a contender to start the American Football season in September.
"We are devastated by the news of Khyree Jackson's death following an overnight car accident," a Vikings statement said on Saturday.
US media reports said the accident happened in his home town in Maryland.
