Nani claims Man City have someone who is better than Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker has been a vital player for Manchester City during the majority of Pep Guardiola’s reign at the club.

With seven years under his belt at the Etihad Stadium, the right-back has made 301 appearances across all competitions, winning numerous trophies along the way and captaining them to their fourth-consecutive Premier League title.

In fact, the Englishman has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world, with Ashley Young admitting back in May that Walker is one of the best in Premier League history.

Despite that, another former Manchester United player has claimed that City have someone who is actually better than Walker.

Nani suggests Joao Cancelo is better than Kyle Walker

Appearing in a recent video uploaded to the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Nani was asked to build a combined Portugal and England XI by choosing who he prefers out of two players based on their positions.

For the right-back position, when asked to pick between Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker, the former United winger went for Cancelo.

Cancelo vs Walker

City signed Cancelo back in the 2019 summer transfer window and went on to see the defender make 154 appearances across all competitions, 71 of which have been with Walker also on the field.

In addition to the Portuguese connection, the fact that Cancelo has scored more goals (9 vs 6) in fewer City appearances (154) than Walker and played in different positions in the process could be why Nani, who scored 41 goals and delivered 70 assists in 230 appearances for United, picked him over the Englishman.

However, having left City to join Bayern Munich on loan in the middle of the Manchester club’s Treble-winning campaign and then joining Barcelona on a season-long loan last summer, it’s clear that Guardiola values Walker more than the Portuguese international.
