PACING THE 2024 INDY 500 WILL BE THE C8 CORVETTE E-RAY

The C8 Corvette E-Ray is a spectacular example of how electrification doesn’t have to be a bore. With the help of an electric motor at the front and a V8 in the back, Chevrolet has made the quickest production Corvette in history (for now) thanks to the electrified all-wheel-drive feature on the car. This year, a 2024 C8 Corvette E-Ray 3LZ coupe will lead the field to the green flag for the 108th Indianapolis 500.

The E-Ray’s exterior and interior will be fully displayed as the car fulfills responsibilities on and off the track. This should be an excellent opportunity for fans attending the event or prospective buyers. The Corvette E-Ray, tasked with being the pace car for this year’s Indy 500, is finished in an Arctic white exterior paint and two-tone jet black and natural interior accents. These design queues were inspired by fighter jets and pair nicely with the Indianapolis 500 logos on the Pace Car. Carbon fiber wheels are wrapped with all-season tires, which complete the car’s overall look.

The Corvette E-Ray uses a 6.2L LT2 V8 engine paired with an electric motor that makes an additional 160 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque through the front wheels. That brings a combination of 655 horsepower to the pavement, which we’re sure the driver would have a blast opening up if the car wasn’t tasked with being a pace car.

This isn’t the first Corvette to act as the pace car for the legendary race, and we doubt it will be the last. The 2024 race marks the 21st time since 1978 for the Corvette to pace and the 35th time for Chevrolet to pace, dating back to 1948. If you’re interested in attending this legendary event, it will take place on Sunday, May 26, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and tickets are on sale here.
