The final season of Cobra Kai on Netflix will span 15 episodes, spread across three different “parts.” And the first part is set to debut later this month. The new trailer picks up the story after last season’s big karate tournament, and sees longtime enemies Daniel La Russo (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) now joining forces to lead a school they teach together. Which is good because the old Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove) is back yet again (He faked his own death! He escaped from jail! These are things that are happening on a show based on The Karate Kid!) and h...

Deadpool & Wolverine … & Sabretooth? Check out who just joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Who should pop up to battle Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, but none other than his old arch-nemesis Sabretooth. And we’re not talking the suave, tough-talking Sabretooth played by Liev Schreiber in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. We’re talking about the shaggy, bizarre, Grizzly Adams cosplaying Sabretooth from the very first X-Menway back in the year 2000 played by Tyler Mane. I truly did not ever expect to see this design on screen. But I guess this is going to be part...

There’s probably no more popular time travel movie in the history of cinema than Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future. Zemeckis’ new movie sort of looks like a time travel movie too — of a much different sort. Instead of a DeLorean, his Herehas … a room. And the space before the house the room sits in was built. The film seemingly spans the entire history of the planet from the age of the dinosaurs until today, and perhaps even into the future. But the camera remains fixed in one position in one spot as time passes around it. The trailer for Here is below and it gives you at least a sense of th...

No history of troubled big-budget movies is complete without the story of 1979’s Caligula, which was commissioned by Penthouse Magazine as an attempt to combine serious adult filmmaking with seriously adult sex scenes. In the end, both its director (Tinto Brass) and its writer (Gore Vidal) demanded their names be taken off the film, after Penthouse’s Bob Guccione inserted all sorts of additional explicit material that was never originally intended to be included in the film. In spite of the turmoil (or maybe because the turmoil got a lot of attention, and actually created some hype around the ...

The Penguin is getting his on streaming series on Max. When you think of all the DC superheroes who haven’t gotten a television show to date, the fact that this character is starring in his own show — not just the villain in someone else’s series — is pretty wild. But maybe that speaks to the star power of Colin Farrell, who played the Penguin in Matt Reeves’ The Batman and returns here in the same role. Or perhaps it says more about the state of superhero movies and cinematic universes, where it’s seen as advantageous to create interconnected movies and shows even if the characters aren’t as ...

Watchmenis getting yet another adaptation — this one animated. It has previously been turned into a very faithful Zack Snyder live-action movie, and it was also given a sequel TV series a few years ago on HBO. There’s even a “motion comic” of the classic Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons series as well. The next reimagination of the iconic graphic novel doesn’t look like it has much re-imagining at all: It’s a two-part animated feature that at first glance looks extremely faithful to Dave Gibbons original artwork from the Watchmen comics. The teaser for the two-part adaptation can be watched below; ...

Zack Snyder made his own Thor (and Loki) movie — but not for Marvel. Snyder’s new animated feature (and technically his fourth film he will be releasing in 2024 by the time it comes out) is called Twilight of the Gods, and it represents the director’s personal take on Norse mythology, up to an including a key role for Thor. Netflix announced today that the film will debut on streaming later this fall. They also revealed a brief first look at the film, which you can watch below: Subscribe to ScreenCrush on Youtube READ MORE: The Director’s Cuts of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Gets Netflix Premiere ...

Are you ready for another Sausage Party? The hit 2016 R-rated animated movie, featuring the voices of Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, and many more of their comedy buddies as a variety of foodstuffs, is now getting a sequel TV series on Prime Video. Sausage Party: Foodtopia continues the story of the original film, and features much of the original cast, including Rogen (who co-created the series with Evan Goldberg and Sausage Party co-director Conrad Vernon), Wiig, and Cera. The trailer for the series just debuted, and it shows that Rogen, Goldeberg, and Vernon haven’t ton...

A new Suicide Squadanime series from Warner Bros. Japan is coming to streaming later this month. We’ve got LEGOmovies, LEGO Batman movies, LEGO Ninjago movies. But what about a LEGO biopic? In what would seem to be a first, none other than Pharrell produced and starred in a biography of his own life made with LEGO animation. It’s called Piece By Piece. Pharrell plays himself and narrates his life story, while animation recounts the various events of his rise to fame and success. Celebrity voices in the movie playing themselves include Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg — all as LEGO people, obviously. (This is clearly LEGO-style...
