A popular French rolling news channel has been fined for broadcasting climate scepticism unchallenged. CNews, controlled by billionaire business magnate Vincent Bolloré, provides 24-hour national and global news coverage and is the second most watched news network in France, after BFMTV. It was accused of allowing one of its guests to defend a controversial thesis on the human origin of climate change - without providing any rebuttal. Since a relaunch in 2017, the Groupe Canal+ channel has taken a conservative editorial stance. It is often compared to the right-wing American TV channel Fox New...

Settings and storylines that make for good gameplay rarely lend themselves to compelling plots and filmable universes. So it's pretty amazing that Amazon's new Fallout series manages to be faithful to the aesthetics and vibe of the video games on which it's based while also working as a fun and enjoyable (albeit gruesome and bizarre) action-adventure show. The show, like the games, is set in a nuke-ravaged wasteland formerly known as the United States, where 1950s camp bleeds into Wild West gunslinging and ultraviolent post-apocalyptic gore-horror. The plot follows the intersecting stories of ...

New York (AFP) - After taking a beating in the ratings from rivals Fox News and MSNBC, CNN is hoping that by hosting the first presidential debate of 2024, it can win back some cable news viewers. The network, the first in history to earn sole broadcast rights for a presidential debate, offered competitors the chance to pick up its feed Thursday night, under certain conditions. The CNN logo would have to appear onscreen for the duration of the event, and any ads promoting it would have to refer to the "CNN Presidential Debate," according to the Los Angeles Times. CNN declined comment when aske...

Football fans are nearing the halfway mark of the UEFA Euro 2024 championship which began on 14 June and ends on 14 July. It is the first major international football tournament held restriction-free during the summer since the Covid-19 pandemic. Only a limited number of fans have the chance to attend the games at the stadiums across Germany so most people are watching on TV. Financial reports suggest this is triggering a spending surge across Europe. Food and drink sales are expected to see a significant boost, along with an increase in television purchases. In the UK alone, Euro 2024 is proj...
