Germany's interior minister called Monday's report of a record nearly 3,000 attacks on federal police officers last year a "shocking record." Nancy Faeser made her comments in the port city of Rostock in eastern Germany during a presentation of the data that showed 2,979 officers attacked in 2023, according to the Federal Police's annual report for the year. A total of 2,979 officers were attacked last year, according to the authority's new annual report presented in the north-eastern city of Rostock, marking an all-time high. The Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Administrative Court rejected an appeal by the man on Tuesday, meaning his previous conviction stands. A parliamentary investigation report recommends better training for police officers almost a year after the fatal police shooting of a teenager in France and the serious unrest that followed.
