The General Election result could be very bad news for West Ham United chief Daniel Kretinsky and his grand plans. They say politics and football don’t mix but there may be some crossover for West Ham. It remains to be seen what will happen regarding control of the London Stadium. The Hammers struck what’s been billed ‘the deal of the century’ when Boris Johnson was London Mayor. There has been much speculation of late that West Ham could be handed control of the stadium, which continues to make big losses for owners LLDC. Lewis Hamilton took a stunning victory at the British Grand Prix after a late tyre call enabled him to snatch the lead from Lando Norris. Norris was leading the race after rain hit the track midway through, causing all the drivers to switch to the Intermediate tyre and then back to slicks. Hamilton was behind and elected to pit a lap earlier than his compatriot, while Norris stayed out for an extra lap on his worn Intermediates that were lapping several seconds slower than when they were new. Mercedes put Hamilton on a used set of soft tyres for the final laps, with McLaren following suit with...

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has now compared Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka to one Chelsea icon. Arsenal star Bukayo Saka lit up Euro 2024 yesterday with his sensational strike for England against Switzerland. With the Three Lions desperate for a goal in the 80th minute, Declan Rice played the ball out wide to his Arsenal teammate Saka on the right wing. The 22-year-old then cut back inside onto his preferred left foot and arrowed a perfectly-placed strike into the bottom corner from range. This equaliser took the match to extra time, and a penalty shootout was ultimately needed to deci...

Phil Foden was deployed in a different role than usual during England’s win against Switzerland on penalties after drawing 1-1 during the quarter-final of Euro 2024. Gareth Southgate decided to play Foden alongside Jude Bellingham in midfield instead of as a left-winger — as a part of a setup that switched between 3-4-2-1 and a 3-3-4 shapes when the Three Lions had possession. The £225,000-a-week man often played either alongside or either in front of Kobbie Mainoo and Declan Rice for most of the game. Gary Lineker felt the 24-year-old “came to life” during the contest — playing in his natural...

Everton, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town are all eagerly awaiting a decision from Jaden Philogene as he nears a move away from Hull City. The England under-21 star lit up the Championship last season and has a number of Premier League clubs pushing to sign him. As we know, Everton are one of those clubs, while there’s also been talk of Tottenham and even Barcelona being keen on the youngster. However, a move to La Liga is now completely off, while Tottenham seem to have cooled their own interest, allowing others to move into pole position. Red Bull driver Sergio Perez needed to have a fantastic race to try and relieve some of the pressure on his future. After several poor races on the bounce, Sergio Perez didn’t even complete the first session of qualifying after beaching his Red Bull in the gravel on the outside of Copse. This meant that Perez knew he would have to drive from the back row of the grid to try and score points, although Red Bull then decided to make several changes to his car that required him to start from the pit lane. Perez had some time to make up to the back of the pack at the start of the race but once again...
