There’s being a fan, and then there’s being a fan for all of eternity. One funeral home in Arkansas has introduced a Ghostbustersurn — which looks like the group’s famous Ecto-1 vehicle — which can hold a true fan’s ashes in perpetuity. If you’re dead-set on a Ghostbusters-inspired funeral, this could be the way to go. The director of the funeral parlor, Richard Neal, gave an interview to the local ABC affiliate, KATV, where he talked about how this rather eclectic burial scheme came about… We were working with a family who were interested in finding something that reflected their loved one’s ...

An extremely wise rampaging giant lizard once taught the world that size does matter. This is true of blockbuster movies, and it is equally true of their tie-in promotional foods. It is not enough to promote a tentpole release with a single new food item. You’re gonna have to go a lot bigger than that. That brings us to the latest breakthrough in the world of movie food: Not one, not two, not even three, but four new DiGiorno frozen pizzas inspired by Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverinefilm. Two pizzas — one for Deadpool and one for Wolverine — would have been enough for me. But again: Size does mat...

I’ve heard F1 informally referred to by colleagues as the “Top Gun: Maverick of racing.” And now having watched the film’s first trailer that … sounds right on the money. For one thing, the two films share a director, Joseph Kosinski. For another, they share the same cinematographer, Claudio Miranda, and a similar approach to the visuals, which uses advanced cameras to put you in the vehicles’ cockpit and to make it look like the real actors — Brad Pitt primarily, in the case of F1 — are really performing the death-defying stunts. See for yourself in the trailer below. The racing footage looks...

It may not have Russell Crowe, but Ridley Scott’s Gladiator IIdefinitely still looks like a Gladiator movie. Ahead of the long-awaited sequel debuting its first trailer tomorrow, Paramount has shared a large batch of images from the film and they certainly match the style and flavor of Scott’s 2000 Oscar winner. Instead of Crowe, the sequel stars Paul Mescal, along with an all-star cast that includes Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi reprising their roles from the original Gladiator. You can see most of those aforementioned names in shots from t...

Long before Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, J.R.R. Tolkien’s work made its way to the screen in animated form, first in 1977’s The Hobbit and then in 1978’s The Lord of the Rings and 1980’s The Return of the King. So in a sense the new Lord of the Rings movie, The War of the Rohirrim, is a return to the franchise’s roots, at least onscreen. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the movie serves as a prequel to the Jackson trilogy. (He is also involved in the film as an executive producer.) It’s set almost 200 years before the films in the location that’s known as Helm’s Deep; essentially ...

Ryan Reynolds has revealed the third Deadpool movie nearly became a budget road trip comedy. Several ideas were touted, including a movie of Reynolds’ superhero, the alter ego of Wade Wilson, and his taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni), and the antics they get up to, but they ultimately decided to do the Deadpool & Wolverine movie. The 47-year-old actor told Entertainment Weekly: “Literally, it was a $5 or $6 million budget with no special effects.” “It was just a talkie-talkie road trip with me and [Karan Soni’s character] Dopinder and some of the things we collected and saw along the way. It w...

Beverly Hills Cop became the most successful cinematic showcase for Eddie Murphy’s talents, but it wasn’t designed for him. It was conceived as a straight-forward Sylvester Stallone vehicle, and it remained that way until just a few weeks before filming began, when Stallone dropped out and Murphy subbed in at the last minute. The conceit wound up working better with Murphy than it ever could have with Stallone, because as an Eddie Murphy movie, Beverly Hills Cop’s text and metatext fell perfectly into sync. Instead of Stallone in yet another macho cop movie, BHC became Eddie Murphy in a Sylves...

Sometimes it’s all about nostalgia and I totally went down that road watching the 1997 block buster, award-winning Good Will Hunting, arguably one of the best movies of all time about a gifted janitor working at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Like so many of us, we Google things about movies we’re watching and while doing that, I came across this absolutely hilarious gem of a fun fact from this Ben Affleck and Matt Damon film. Matt started writing Good Will Hunting as a final assignment for a playwriting class he was taking at Harvard University. Matt got his best friend Ben involved i...

Everywhere Maxine goes, men recognize her — but only men. No wonder; Miaxine is a porn star and men are her target audience. But recognition by skeezy dudes is not what Maxine craves. She wants to be really famous. She often repeats a mantra: “I will not accept a life I do not deserve.” And Maxine is firmly convinced that she deserves more. One wonders whether there is a little of Maxine’s creator, Ti West, in that sentiment. In his latest film about her — his third to date featuring his smoldering starlet, Mia Goth — West has a frustrated horror director, played by Elizabeth Debicki, announce...

No consensus is unanimous. For proof of that statement, look no further than the list of 30 films below, drawn from the hundreds — even thousands in some cases! — of half-star reviews on Letterboxd for some of the most beloved films in the history of cinema. (A half-star is the lowest-possible rating on Letterboxd, by the way; there is no zero star option.) As you browse through these 30 reviews, you will notice that I have blacked out the names of these Letterboxd users. That’s because I do not want you to race off to yell at the people who wrote these reviews. That’s not what this is about. ...
