As Pat McGann gears up for his tour supporting Sebastian Maniscalco — which includes four nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City — the stand-up comic shared a bit of his story with the Loudwire Nights audience. “I grew up with funny people and we walked to school together and tried to bust each other up,” he told Chuck Armstrong on Wednesday (Aug. 21). “Combine that with just liking comedy. My parents, I remember them talking about [Jerry] Seinfeld before, even when he was just a regular on Carson. [I would sneak] away to watch Eddie Murphy Delirious. When you’re 10, 12 years old, yo...

It didn’t take long for Gene Louis to notice a unique name popping up in Bullets and Octane’s interactions on TikTok. “I’m barely ever on [TikTok], really,” Louis told Chuck Armstrong on Loudwire Nights Wednesday (Aug. 21). “There’s only a few people that really interact, but I’ve seen this ‘Steve Stevens‘ liking stuff.” Louis admitted he initially assumed it was some fake account, but after awhile, he decided to just reach out to the account that claimed to be Stevens, the longtime guitarist and collaborator with Billy Idol. “I’m like, ‘Hey, man, if this is you, hit me up,'” Louis said. “I le...

You may not immediately connect the Toyota Prius with metal or rock and roll, but for System of a Down‘s Serj Tankian, the car is a huge reason why fans are hearing new solo music from him this year. “I had this old Prius that I kept around, even though I wasn’t driving it,” Tankian explained to Loudwire Nights host Chuck Armstrong on Tuesday (Aug. 20). “It was the only thing that would verify my mixes in my studio. I desperately wanted to sell it because I was burning out of batteries all the time. I kept on changing the batteries because I never would drive it.” The desire to sell the car pu...

When Mark Tremonti joined Loudwire Nights on Friday (Aug. 16), he admitted that Creed didn’t realize just how big Human Clay would be when they were in the studio 25 years ago. “You never know, but I remember in those days we were always fighting for survival,” he shared with Loudwire Nights‘ Chuck Armstrong. “Everybody in the industry — you know, they’re always negative nellies and were like, ‘Guys, you’re going to be a one-hit wonder.'” As Tremonti recalled that moment in Creed’s early career, he noted how they had more than one hit before Human Clay. “Alright, you’re going to have your soph...

They say at times you can’t hear the sheer brilliance of a song until it’s broken down on acoustic guitar, so for this edition of Gear Factor, you’ll get a lot of brilliance from some of rock and metal’s greatest guitar players. We kick off this compilation with Ghost‘s Tobias Forge shouting out one of his greatest guitar influences, Metallica‘s James Hetfield, and getting laugh out of what he’s hearing when he breaks down “Master of Puppets” on acoustic for the listeners. “That’s a funny riff,” he remarks, imagining that Hetfield had a great time writing the song. Speaking of metal riffs, Alt...

“It was a point I made decades ago that songs really stand the test of time.” Stone Temple Pilots‘ Robert DeLeo recently joined Loudwire Nights, along with Live‘s Ed Kowalczyk, to celebrate the 30th anniversaries of their bands’ albums Purple and Throwing Copper. “It’s really our way of being immortal,” DeLeo said on Thursday night (Aug. 15). “Those songs live way past us.” Kowalczyk seemed to agree with his friend. “It’s so cool, we made music that still matters 30 years later,” he told Loudwire Nights‘ Chuck Armstrong. “It still matters to people in a big way. It’s this ongoing conversation ...

Former Guns N’ Roses manager Vicky Hamilton confirmed in an exclusive interview with Loudwire that a TV series about the 1980s Sunset Strip rock music scene in Los Angeles is coming. Vicky Hamilton, Guns N’ Roses‘ first-ever manager who helped jump-start their career, is auctioning a painting she did of Axl Rose in 1993 that helped bring her closure about the end of her relationship with the band. Hamilton met Rose and Izzy Stradlin before they were in Guns N’ Roses and were playing in Hollywood Rose. She was working as an agent at Silver Lining Entertainment at the time, and the pair came in with a demo tape. “They brought me a cassette of some of the tracks from Appetite and I was blown away,” she told us. The duo eventually formed Guns N’ Roses with some other musicians...

Even though Jason Hook was excited for the release of Flat Black‘s debut full-length, Dark Side of the Brain, he admitted on Loudwire Nights that he was waiting quite awhile for fans to hear the album. “It was done in January of 2023,” Hook revealed to host Chuck Armstrong on Wednesday night (Aug. 14). “I’ve been hearing this for a very long time, but when it was done, I was listening to it and I was like, ‘This is the best I got. It’s the best I have.’ So, I was happy.” With the album out and more live shows on the horizon, Hook said he’s excited to not let the band lose any momentum on new m...

In this latest episode of Loudwire’s Gear Factor video series, Undeath guitarists Kyle Beam and Jared Welch play their favorite riffs. Hailing from Rochester, New York, Undeath generated instant buzz with Lesions of a Different Kind, their 2020 debut that featured The Black Dahlia Murder‘s Trevor Strnad on the title track. Keen on evolving their style, 2022’s It’s Time…To Rise From the Grave (which Loudwire crowned Death Metal Album of the Year) found some more traditional metal influences come to the forefront. And now, with their third record, More Insane, Undeath are striving for even slick...
