A previously-unseen witness statement has cast doubt on the investigation into Brian Jones' death. The Rolling Stones musician was found dead in his swimming pool in 1969 aged 27, with a coroner recording a death by misadventure, saying he had drowned while "under the influence of alcohol and drugs", but the family of cab driver Joan Fitzsimons - who had been at the guitarist's house on the night he passed away - told cops they were convinced she had been attacked days later because of her belief then-boyfriend Frank Thorogood, a bodyguard to the star, had been involved in the tragedy. Bill Wyman has recalled how his former Rolling Stones bandmate Brian Jones stubbed out a cigarette on his hand. The 86-year-old bassist quit the Stones in 1993 after more than 30 years with the group, and said its founder Brian – who drowned aged 27 on 3 July 1969 after years battling drink and drugs problems – lashed out as he had a “bad side”. He told The Times: “Brian Jones had his bad side – he’d stub a cigarette out on the back of your hand and then apologise profusely – but he was incredibly inventive.” Heaping more praise on Brian, the guitarist added about the Stones’ original leader, ...

Bill told Classic Rock magazine: "[Brian] was the creator of The Rolling Stones. I don't care what you say about Mick and Keith [Richards], if it hadn't have been for Brian they probably would have had a different band in Dartford, out in the sticks where they lived. "They weren't Londoners, though Mick always tries on his cockney accent, which he doesn't deserve, ...

The Rolling Stones have reportedly signed a £50 million deal for a new TV drama based on their rise to fame. The lucrative deal means the new 16-part drama series from the makers of 'The Crown' will be able to use the band's music to help tell their story from their formation in 1962 until the release of 1974 album 'It's Only Rock 'n' Roll'. An insider told the Daily Mail newspaper: "The Stones see this series as being their legacy. When they can't tour any more, this will remain alongside the music." The publication reports the bulk of the cash will be going to the band's two main songwriters...
