The Latvian government-owned airBaltic ordered an additional 10 A220-300s Airbus planes, the European manufacturer confirmed on Tuesday. This fourth reorder will take the airline's total firm order to 90 A220 aircraft. airBaltic is currently the largest A220 customer in Europe. The A220 is the most modern airliner in its class, carrying between 120 to 150 passengers on flights of up to 3,600 nautical miles. Airbus said that as of the end of July, it received more than 900 orders from around 30 customers for the A220, of which around 350 have been delivered.

European aerospace company Airbus on Tuesday reported that its second quarter net income dropped to €230 million ($249 million) from last year's €1.06 billion. Earnings per share declined to €0.29 from €1.34 in the prior year. The company said earnings before interest, taxes (EBIT) totalled €847 million, down from €1.497 billion in the previous year, due to charges in the Space Systems business. Revenues for the second quarter rose slightly to €15,995 million compared to €15,900 million a year earlier.
